We visited Jordan in May 2011
This was our itinerary:
May 19…Depart Iran 6:05am…arrive Doha 6:30am
May 19…Depart Doha 1pm……arrive Amman Jordan 3:45pm…
Transfer to Canyon Boutique hotel and settle in.

May 20…After breakfast picked up for our tour of Um Qais, a city
rich in basalt ruins overlooking the Jordan valley, Golan Heights,
and Lake Tiberius (Sea of Galilee). Onto the village of Ajlun with
it’s fortress and magnificent view into the Jordan valley.
Next we drive to Jerash, one of the best preserved Greco-Roman
cities in the middle east. Return to Amman.

May 21…After breakfast a city tour of Amman visiting the citadel,
the Roman theater, and the Umayyad Palace. 1 hour drive to the Dead Sea,
the lowest point on the surface of the earth for a swim in it’s warm
salty waters. Free time.

May 22…After breakfast we head south through the Kings Way, an
ancient route that still has marks left from traders, armies, and pilgrims
who crossed it centuries ago. A visit to the Christian town of Madaba
“The City of Mosaics” and a detour to Mount Nebo, the site of an
endearing monastery. On to Kerak castle through Wadi Mujib, a deep
valley holding one of Jordan’s most breathtaking views. A visit to
the castle with it’s diverse history dating from the Byzantine to the
Mamluk period. Onto Petra.

May 23…After breakfast we start our visit of this ancient Nabatean capital
on horseback, (a horse ride of 800 meters each way), followed by a walk
through the Siq, a long narrow fissure between two overhanging cliffs.
Gradually the mysteries of this Red Rose City unfolds.
An optional night walk through Petra.

May 24…After breakfast a second entry to visit Petra. Optional evening
cooking class.

May 25…After breakfast we travel to Beida, also known as “Little Petra” the
place where the Nabateans used to entertain their guests. We continue
south to the enchanting desert of Wadi Rum. A 3 hour jeep tour through
Jordan’s largest desert with the most spectacular desert landscapes in
the world. This is Lawrence of Arabia country. We enjoy a cup of traditional
Bedouin tea and watch the sunset.
Transfer to the campsite inside the desert. You will be served a traditional
Bedouin dinner and spend the night in the tented desert camp.
May 26…After breakfast we drive back to Amman via the desert highway.

May 27…Free morning for walking and shopping in the old town area of the city.
After lunch we are transferred to the airport for our 4:45 pm flight back
to Doha.

May 28…Early transfer to the airport for our 7:10am flight to Cape Town
arriving at 5:40pm
